IDM, dark music, ambient music, composed music, composted music, etc. it's boring the fuck out of me lately. It doesn't feel nourishing or interesting anymore.

I like to go to church and hear people sing things like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuLXTOS3r5s

They're so magnificent and full and beautiful playing their voices and instruments. It brings me to tears.

I feel like what's his name going to testicular cancer groups to cry.

Sufi dance and music:

Hindu music:

I also dig bluegrass jam sessions and Maynard James Keenan's stuff.

almost all the big names (watmm subforum names) are producing nice, but bland fings these days. i feel bad slagging it because of the size of their "back catalog" but that's also why i find it so upsetting.

just take a break from it. i went really off idm for a long time, and explored indie rock, post-rock, post-metal, and prog, then eventually got back into electronic music. i just really burned myself out i guess. i was writing a lot of electronic stuff as well as listening so it just kinda got stale. now my electronic music is finally starting to have some character, at least i think so anyway.

I don't even listen much music anymore. i blame rushup edge.

ZOMG! Lazerz pew pew pew!!!!11!!1!!!!1!oneone!shift+one!~!!!

IDM is dead, long live IDM

personally I'm getting into the more minimalist organic stuff like Loscil and Keith Fullerton Whitman but then again maybe I'm turning into a boring old fart but hey that VHShead album is the shit :music:

you just don't know / are not aware of the good stuff.

then again i think you see creation and strict, structured composition as an ego related thing? and that it's less pure or enlightened than something pre-real or something.. i don't know. i disagree with this hierarchical thinking. i think it's relevant to our own experience here to see these sophisticated expressions.

you need to explain why you think liking/finding interesting/being nourished by composed music is linked to being deep in a trance.

my duc gave me a cd called "anti depressant music" of gospel, country, and blues but i think he forgot to burn it or he accidently burned the kind of CD that can't play on stereos.

I have already offered the remedy to any idm deficiency in our lives.
