recommend really, really abrasive noise

short story: these two idiots living one story below sometimes crank their crappy soul hiphop music at night. fighting fire with fire, i laid down my speakers flat on the floor and blasted the obvious choice, Gantz Graf, through their ceiling. The desired effect occured: crappy music from down below stopped. This worked twice already, but i don't want them to recognize patterns in the music i'm playing. They should feel like being trapped in a scrap press.

So recommend the most irritating, harsh, wall-piercing noise music you know of, thank you.

And of course Merzbow would be the obvious choice (Pulse Demon). For more variation in noise, try Masonna's 'Frequency LSD' or 'Inner Mind Mystique'. Also live Throbbing Gristle stuff. Maybe Khanate's Pieces of Quiet (or their Earth cover of German Dental Work).

Thinking back, you actually need music with lots of bass and sub bass, noise is globally medium frequencies and these don't get through walls so easily. And the most annoying music isn't necessarily the most extreme.

searched and found this thread. the merzbow stuff seems like it might be similarly insane. love this kind of music when in the mood for it.

striaght up noise is NOT going to carry over very well as a sound weapon, in fact it will probably just block out any unwanted annoying noise your neighbors already endure. Try something like Acid int he Style of David Tudor by Hecker. Something annoying and screechy but not 'noisey'

yeah, i think people who think of that idea just aren't really uh thinking about it. They sell white noise generators for psychologist offices and law offices so people in the waiting room cant hear people talking. They actually have the opposite effect of annoying, solid white or pink noise has been proven scientifically to have a calming effect on the brain

Some of Otto's stuff is kind of like a aural donkey show.
