V/vm test records is gone

I'm pretty angry. I was hoping to buy the "Christmas Cracker" and "Fan Dabi Dazi". Both the archive and the store are gone. I asked Kirby what happened and he said:

"Website is down for good, 28.400 style... site had to be pulled down to refocus. It's unlikely anything will be for sale for the forseeable future. We never say never though. Have a good holiday captain."

I loved that website.

28.400 style - now that's a genius way to put it.

There's no skip, James!

Yeah, there was a pile of stuff I had intended to grab from him when I got some free cash to do so, but alas, that time never arrived. History always favors the winners!

I just wish he gave us a warning so I could've downloaded what I wanted from the archive. I'm cool with his new direction, I love the Leyland Kirby tracks. But. Kirby used to be V/vm, and I feel it's stupid that he feels the need to distance himself from it.

Also, I think it's unfair to any artists that were on his label. I was going to buy some Al Duvall this week.

All last year he's been fixated on this video on YouTube of a guy playing with a ham radio, and asking viewers "Where's the skip?" as there was nobody on the air to talk to. His "call number" on the radio was 28.400. This is the video:

The Death of Rave (19 hours of music/part of the 365 project) is available for download. It's not pirating because James is fine with it.

http://5-against-4.blogspot.com/2011/10/contemporary-epics-vvm-death-of-rave.html

I'm currently 4.5 hours in, and I am really enjoying it. It's a lot like The Caretaker, but instead of ballroom ditties being cut up, it's 80's/90's rave being washed-out. The "album" showcases the beauty of these rave melodies, stripping it of any "hardcore" attributes and turning it into a long droney dream.

I really want to hear the rest of the 365 project now.

i hope some time in the future he will release the announced V/Vm -anthology.

Anyone know what became of this -

On a blog that previously had links to the album now has this update:

"EDIT (Jan 2013): Links removed - Leyland Kirby has informed me that things are afoot; watch this space..."

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

but anyway, new stuff seems to be on its way. hopefully some v/vm bits, too.

Even today I used soulseek to get some VVM stuff, which is kinda tough- have only a very small selection of his stuff.

Is there anybody in the forum who has almost everything downloaded when it was available? I reward that with a plastic map.

I have a very good suggestion why VVM took the site down- he actually made a rather fruitful and I am sure also money-wise collab with boomkat. HAFTW is a boomkat-funded label, and a close person told me so as well. No wonder that I never got any answer when I was asking James about his VVM final boxset…

i used to keep up with this. if i remember correctly, he'd usually post a journal-esque report about what influenced each track, or something along the lines of what he was doing/feeling that day before making the track.

i also used to post on the vvm forum because i was (and still am) looking for the alien porno midgets record and the rank sinatra thing
