Analord

Recommended Posts

The more I listen to Analord, the more I realize how much work went into it. I was just listening to Breath March and I thought my left speaker was busted. There is an ultra low frequency synth that sounds like a busted sub. I was very dissapointed when Analord was released as I was expecting fast paced Drukqs nastiness. I sort of skipped over Analord as a whole, except a couple of tracks. The Tuss has given me a new appreciation for Analord. When listening to the Analord rips, I thought the distortion was showing limitations of vinyl. Now I realize, like every Aphex release, the distortion is intentional. This is the reason I check this forum everyday in anticipation for a new release. I hope that soon we all will get another peak into Richard's genius. :aphexsign:

& listening to the first few seconds of Halibut Acid (original mix) sounds like Richard didn't get everything aligned with the different analogue machines. I still think that all of this music was mixed on a computer. Was this just a fake way to make us think this was "performed live"?

Analord and drukqs are two totally different beasts, but I love both just as much as one another.

And yeah, the Analord series is FULL of little easter eggs and shit.

I think the Analords are tops for me. I was pretty pumped when Girl/Boy came out but I think it's the Analord series and SAW2... all the way.

I still find drukqs a bit too tinny and harsh whereas analord is warm n fuzzy. I dod love it when a drukqs track is dropped in a live-set tho... but am not arsed with the studio tracks much... except ziggomatic/mt st micheals

I still think that would Analord have been done by anyone else than Aphex, you lot wouldn't be gushing over it as much you do. Most of you would have probably never even heard of it.

I think out of all the "albums" Analord is the most... well I wasn't surprised when there were however many bonus/outtake tracks that came out last year. When I hear the other albums were compiled from a pool of tracks maybe three times as big as the album itself I only half-believe but Analord is the most believable that it could be picked out of countless tracks. It seems like some weird genre unto itself just like for every 'rock' song another could exist

there is probably a shorter less run-on way of saying that but feck off

Analord felt more like a collection of an expert's exercises in acid rather than a highly sculpted art piece. It's really amazing in that respect. I don't feel like all of the pieces had a planned structure, but many of them definitely had a planned style and referenced other work. It's all really beautiful and good, definitely grew on me, just like any genre I wasn't really into before. I knew very little about acid before I heard these records so took me a while to understand what I was listening to.

i think that's a ridiculous statement! analord is pretty incredible in richard's special way -- halibut acid/xmd5a/fenixfunk 5 should be enough to convince you. there's an amazing quality of order amongst chaos in most all of the tracks. there are maybe 10 tracks i don't listen to regularly. i think it's clear it was sequenced/edited on a computer, but it's clear that there's a huge presence of juicy analog synths here -- some amazing and delightful sounds.

edit: also bump for meltphace 6 being the best goddamn track on drukqs!

double edit: for oh my god he's the best beatmaker that ever lived

yea fuck that, analord would still be the tits. i wouldn't care who it's by

edit: yes, there's the chance i never would've heard about it. but what does that have to do with your artist name/biased listener claim?

I think that DrukQs would have been much more easily forgotten than Analord, if Aphex hadn't put his name on both of them. The Tuss did after all become a big hit before it was known that it really was RDJ. DrukQs being far more inaccesible and noisy, probably wouldn't have been heard by that many.

For my own part, although I was really into Aphex already, it was Fenix Funk 5 that made me really open my ears to his music. Before that it was just a couple of tracks, Flim and Girl/Boy song, and now I've devoured his discography several times :)

analord 10 was always a little more towards that mysterious something than the rest....
