sick doll head mono synth circuit bent

looks cool but i fucking hate this trend of DIY noisemakers that sound like utter shittttttt. sounds like my alarm clock, and i fucking hate my alarm clock, why would i want to listen to it for any other purpose than getting my lazy ass out of bed?

the problem is that 555 chips, 4000-series cmos (schmitt triggers, quad nand-gates, half-adders, etc) are fucking great to fuck around with, but they sound like crap. the results are wacky, but you wish it were happening with a proper VCO. then you get into building modulars and withdraw socially.

i can appreciate the fun in building something for sure. i've done it myself. but to me it's like lego...build it, then kick it over and use the pieces to build something else again. i wouldn't actually plug one of these in and use it in a track.

some people just want some noisy flashy thing to hold up like a religious object for their latest gig down at the bug jar.
