Good work sir - only 496 left. Hurry

But yeah the reason I did this is the 'au' track took about 4 months on and off to perfect, and the 'and then the world fell further down' album took nearly 3 years. Looking at the purchasing stats less than 15 people had actually bought the album and around 10 the single (though for those here that did buy them - I thoroughly thank you  ). People just don't like buying our stuff it seems, so today I though 'Fuck it, let them have it for free'. I'd rather people have the ability to listen to it proper then later dismiss it as shite than it just vanish into nothingness with no one hearing it!

I know how it can be...

Truth be told I actually have been meaning to buy some of your stuff, but every time I think of it I only have like $2 on my Paypal & bank transfers take over a week for me. Happens for a lot of online music I would like to buy. There needs to be some sort of chain of internet musician cd & vinyl stores in major cities, or something like that.

Cheers pete! Didn't have the first track.

and everyone should grab "and then the world fell further down". It was one of my favorites of the last year. Listened to it in spades. Plus you should all paypal the nice man a bit of e-coin. The band deserves. trust.

I'm getting these. When I get home.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

Okay, a question about the AU track (Which is one of my favorite ambient tracks on my ipod). Did you get your inspiration from this track?

The similarity between them is uncanny! Even some of the background noise (rain falling on the pavement, I think?) are really similar.

If it is a coincidence, then hot damn, that is one astronomical coincidence. Well done.

Holy crap, they do sound alike - But yeah it is indeed a coincidence as I don't even remember hearing that lovely bit of music in Half Life  The tone of that track actually reminds me more of the oh-so-lovely Cocoon by out very own brisk/36 - http://3six.net/album/cocoon-saphron

Out of interest, here's the very original version of the track - It evolved quite considerably over the months  :

Wow, that is quite a progression.

There also is a track in 28 Weeks Later that is extremely similar called London Deserted:

Well done though. It is an extremely emotional track for me. I really like it a lot.

Out of curiosity how many revisions do Cubus tracks go through on average, & how much do they change over time? I know there's a 20 minute version of one of the tracks from the most recent album that was on that compilation I did a few years back...

Obviously it varies depending on how much the track goes according to plan, but I'd say maybe 3 or 4 on average before we're happy with the final result. When a track really goes off the rails though (like in the case of a remix I did for an artist called Loose Link) I've been known to start a track from scratch about half a dozen times before I'm comfortable with the direction it's taken. Sometimes an early version of one track that was abandoned long ago might lead to the basis of a new track

e.g. This unreleased/unfinished track from 2000 -

evolved into this track for the 2010 WATMM Large Hadron Collider compilation (it's the last section that's most obviously based off the original) -

I played a couple tracks off your last album on my radio show a few weeks back. Feedback was "this is creepy, but not in the bad way"

Haha really - what did you play ?! Is there a recording anywhere

(and thanks for your kind words everyone - I really miss making music)

^Don Spaghet, then I talked about it for a bit, then I played Happy Birthday Eilleen (I really do hope someone named Eilleen was listening & it was her birthday). Unfortunately no recording, not even sure where I could host a two hour show. But if I plan on playing WATMM music in the future (which I do) I'll probably give a link to the livestream ahead of time in that thread I made a while back

Wait you stopped?

Aside from the occasional remix and compilation entry, the last track I recorded as an exclusive release for cubus was fur alali back in December 2010.

Procrastination is a terrible thing....

No but seriously, it's good. Don't like the au track as much, but that's just my taste.

edit:

I also like the front cover a lot. Nighttime urban photos are where it's at.
