Guest maus
it's not too expensive except that you have to purchase a MOTU interface. expert sleepers has SILENT WAY; a similar solution that uses a range of DC-coupled-output compatible I/Os. then there's also the ADDAC SYSTEM, which uses an IC-based "brain" eurorack module that talks to other child modules to do the same kind of thing, using either USB or OSC over CAT5. they all work out to be roughly the same price... with varying degrees of functionality. i'm personally hesitant to wire up my modular system too heavily to automated control, as the whole purpose of it, for me, is to have something more ephemeral that i work with that changes my workflow. these solutions seem to be a way to basically shoehorn something organic into a rather stagnant production process. but that's just me. and having said that, i'm still interested in some of the possibilities of using these setups (with numerology, for example.) kakapo
Yes, this is jazz. I made the point last time that this sort of functionality should be incorporated into reaktor and that with an interface with enough io you could have a fairly astonishing and integrated digital/analogue hybrid, something to rival a buchla for about 1/50th of the cost. Guest hahathhat
i ran into the DC coupling issue trying to use my MPC outputs as triggers (i loaded a waveform into it that was simply a DC offset). it DID work, but it was really fucking glitchy!! it'd be hopeless to try 'n' get CV out of it... im lucky to have the gate.
