Second on both. More immediate.

like: first one (the second looks like the menu screen from an rpg)

i think it depends on your audience. the first one has a lot more sales copy targeted at those unfamiliar with the techniques you're catering to. (imho, most of the copy on that page is unnecessary, and reads like anything marketed to photoshop users.)

so, the first one has potential to have more written information. but the second one conveys more useful information by having a large instance of the product as the background. the product is harder to see in the first one - though i feel this is easily changeable.

thus

i like the clean design of the first one.

the second one i would actually buy from.

(but really, second one, for the aforementioned reasons...though I think you could even give a shot at a 3rd variation that is like the second one, but with a bit more border around it and the buttons "sale" "view cart" "support" etc broken out of the title image in a more traditional "retail-y" way...

The second looks good and individual, really sells the product. But the first looks like a standard blog and makes the 'cart' easier to find.

i dont have photoshop or know what its and i didnt read the text but i voted the 1st for both polls because it looks cooler. however what is a photoshop layer style?? its a think which makes the texture go onto a gray scale image where the color is the dept of the thing? or does the user just select its edge type i dunno, maybe you could show how the text/objects are TRANSFORMED from the first into final?????

i liked the first cause the layout is "professional" (in my minds eye) but the second is very immediate and also keeps the site simple and too the point as well.

the site is mainly aimed at people who already know what layer styles are. i'm planning another one for photoshop noobs (which is probably a bigger market, but requires a different approach).

I want to say I prefer the first one but I just swing towards the second. The first one is good but it seems a bit open to me. Like there is something missing (not saying that there is).

The second one is to the point and seems to give a better picture of the textures. The title is a lot better too imo.

I actually found your site once through Google somehow (don't remember how, as I don't use photoshop myself), and I thought the styles looked cool, but I thought the site was a bit... lacking in visual impact for something photoshop-oriented.

The second one really shows off the different styles, and to me the different sections are a bit more defined.
