Guest analogue wings
The audio that screams from an SEM is fat, fine and funky, with a tonal variety unlike any other sound-generating device on this rock we call home. Gang up four of these monsters, and you've got sounds that're thicker than thunder. SO4V can be used as a 4-voice polyphonic synth or as 4 individual synths under MIDI control. Two SO4Vs can be ganged together to create an 8-voice. The Polyphonic Voice Control and Programmer section retains all the features of the original Four Voice Programmer and Keyboard control modules, while adding gotta-have-'em goodies like these: • Two MIDI sync capable LFOs with multiple waveshapes including sample and hold per voice •Two programmable ADSR envelope generators per voice • Selectable master tuning (both VCOs or VCO2 only) allows easy detuning for huge unison sounds • Polyphonic portamento with linear or exponential response • Noise generator connected to filter input #1 • External audio or A440 tuning reference connected to filter input #2 • Updated output module with mix and pan control for each voice • Two SO4Vs can be easily connected together - result: eight voices! $3,495 Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/63271-tom-oberheim-son-of-four-voice/ Share on other sites

He's already re-released the individual SEM module so sticking a few together in a case with the controller thingie was the next logical step. Considering how much the original four voices go the price of this one is very good. It's also about a grand cheaper than the new Moog Voyager XL, and has four times the polyphony. Guest Lady kakapo
In terms of pure tone the SEM is just about my favourite analogue. Guest 277: 930-933
I really hate how a lot of people/companies put the address for their website on equipment. It looks so incredibly tacky and I don't understand what purpose it serves, people are probably able to figure out how to find your site without the address being printed on a $3000+ machine. This is not at all relevant to the topic but I just got reminded of my contempt for this practice by the mockups posted by aw. Synth looks absolutely gorgeous except for that one gigantic terrible eyesore. Guest analogue wings
Tom Oberheim probably thinks internet addresses are the height of cool. He only recently found out that modern musicians were still using his analogue synths (hence the relatively late re-entry into the game). He was giving a talk at some event and all these young electronica dudes were like OMG Tom Oberheim and he just had no idea. Now, this is maybe not necessarily what you design the machines for in the first place.« Tom Oberheim: »Oh, that's absolutely not true. This is the first time I’ve heard this track when I came here today, and it wouldn't necessarily be the kind of music I'd listen to all day long, but I love it, it's great. I suppose, if I heard it in a different context... I don't go around listening to songs thinking, ’Oh, is there an Oberheim on that?’ I listen to the music to listen to the music, so the fact it's got Oberheim on it, that's great but the instruments are made knowing that the process isn't done. So whether it's Pat Metheny, soft jazz almost symphonic in a way, or something like this, which is almost a completely different genre, I have the same feeling. Now, I won't say that everything I hear I like, but it's the same in every music. But I don't agree, I think the same emotion is there. I built this thing, you give it to a musician, and they do what they want to do with it. Not everyone is going to do soft jazz, thank goodness.« " Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide Rbrmyofr's signature Hide all signatures https://splitradix.bandcamp.com/ Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/63271-tom-oberheim-son-of-four-voice/#findComment-1508900 Share on other sites
