he probably just wants money. making the arty experimental drum n' bass probably is only cool to nerdy types like us. i dunno. havent listened to him in awhile but that house stuff sounded weak.

yeah 101 sounds nice, but wtf at 1:47? spoils the tune for me.

don't care for avalanche, but then again i'm probably not the target audience. lol

i too was a huge photek fan... hell, i rocked risk vs. reward the other day when i was driving around... but i lost track after solaris. it sounded ok, but that wasn't what i was looking for at the time i picked up that album. his old dnb stuff is really the only dnb i listen to... that and roni size reprazent newforms.

I really like some of Solaris, the second half is pretty good for the most part, just a shame DNA from the Terminus EP wasn't on it really. Some of the housier stuff in the first half is pretty lame mind.

there is also the amazing "dolphin tune", under the Aquarius alias.

dolphin/whale sounds have become sort of cliche at some point, in early dnb sounds (can't imagine why), but in this case they end up working pretty well. sweet tune

What we really need is a re-release compilation of this, the Truper 10"s, and all the rest of his o/o/p early releases!

He was the best DnB producer period. Modus Operandi, Ni-Ten-Ichi-Ryu (Two Sword Technique), Pharaoh..... very refined. T-Raenon is good too.

Solaris didn't do anything for me.
