Betelguese supernova, 2 suns

anyone else catch this news about upcoming betelguese supernova which could create a temporary second sun in our sky for 2-3 weeks and possible a complete lack of night?

We have no idea when this thing is gonna go supernova...........

I don't think it's close enough to rid us of night either. It will appear brighter than the sun does in the sky, but 24hr daylight? I don't think so.

Wouldn't it have to be exactly 180 degrees away from our angle to the sun in order to have 24 hours of daylight?
