Shameless (U.S)

This thread is just for the US version as there would be a lot of spoilers with people talking about the farther along UK version. (If you think the UK version is truly better I wouldn't mind reading your spoiler free opinion though)

My buddy made me watch it last night & I'm hooked. It's a very interesting, raw, quality genre combo platter of a show. Reminds me of how how Louie was filmed so well & would transition from drama to comedy so surprisingly smooth but Shameless is definitely a more so dynamic un-definable show. I look forward to a few more seasons of this.

based on having seen the UK version and not given a shit about it and professional-posh-man william h macy playing the lead i wrote the US version off without seeing it. was i wrong?

i can't see how this would travel well.

also i see there's an uproar in the US about another of our crappy exports - skins, due to the underage sex and drug taking being too shocking.

but as above, i watched it for a few episodes early on and realised i wasn't into it.

this should really be called "New Shameless".

Haven't seen the UK version, not a fan of things being poorly remade, but I can guarantee the UK version could not possibly be much better. The casting, writing and execution is perfect for what it is. This is not to be overlooked even if you have already seen the UK version, I can bet money this is a fresh, high quality, sincere enough take on it that it would still be entertaining.

I saw the first 4 series of UK Shameless, its kinda lost its way a bit now though (and a lot of the original cast has changed).

Really enjoyable at its time.

Here's hoping the US have not spoiled another great UK show (and cant you just repeat our originals like we do with your shows??)

yeah most US remakes of UK programs are usually rubbish, that's what i'm going on, but this looks interesting. and i like the UK Shameless a lot.

Haha I had a feeling there was going to be some euros automatically assuming this was a bad remake. I don't blame you wanks too much as there are quite a few of them.

Watching the newest episode & I gotta say I still recommend this show watmms.

I'm on episode 9 and the more I watch it the more I dislike it

the characters are inconsistent, the plots get overly contrived and generally unbelievable

there are some good jokes thrown in though

I feel like a lot of it is intentionally unbelievable.

I try to take it for what it is but it's hard

like when they fed Frank alcohol when he was wearing that bracelet

even in their world that doesn't make sense because the money he makes from the experiment should have trumped all the stupid shit he was doing and it could have effectively paid for home renovations

one thing I really liked was Sheila's reaction when Frank barged into her house from his ex chasing her, that made me lol pretty hard
