White Stripes are no more

I liked Whites Stripes, saw them live a few times and thought they always served up something tasty for the ears. But no more.

that sucks. i wasn't a big fan but i liked their music that i head and respected them

that sucks. first two albums are excellent, and the second two are pretty good.

everything after that was a bit meh though.

I could have seen them at their first ever show outside the US. It was a tiny little blues dive and about 30 people went. I knew the promoter and he would have let me in free.

Couldnt be arsed.

The next time they played NZ it was a huge venue and the tickets cost $80

Yeah, they never really did anything for me either (and I'm from Detroit, so I've been hearing about them forever.)

Well, I liked them. A handful of songs anyway. I didn't really listen to their last two albums.

And despite the drumming, I still think that Meg is kinda hot.

enjoyed the songs that weren't blues, as I've been bored by the guitar rock blues form after hearing it twice.

But yeah after elephant is was allll down hill.

i also enjoyed the shit drumming.

they were a pretty cool band but overrated i reckon and therefore this big retirement announcement seems quite pretentious to me. "the white stripes belong to the fans now" oh thanks dude.

Elephant was the 1st album I ever bought for myself. Love it to bits, still think its their best despite 7 nation armys fame.

Damn, that's unfortunate. I respect that it's "mostly to preserve what is beautiful and special about the band and have it stay that way", though.
