YEK
i was looking at an maudio keyboard online yesterday and it says it has midi but really, in the fine print, the thing only has a usb connection. and then i find out there are more and more of these keyboards that don't actually have a proper midi out. this is fucking retarded so i'm going to have to buy a cheap used synth when i save up and not only will it have the midi capabilities bu it will probably be nicer than plain midi controllers. midi keyboards nowadays are super expensive, i don't get it, and i certainly will NOT get it. i'm going to buy me a synth that has better aftertouch and a synth inside for the same price. fuck you modern audio companies! Guest tonfarben
What stops you from plugging the midikeyboard into a free usb port? The data then gets to the Computer, no matter how the cable and port looks, midi or usb, why care? Just curious.... Just curious.... because i want to control a module just look up for an adapter like that one, but with the usb port that you'd like don't know if it exists though, been searching and looks like they're only intended to transform the midi ports into usb port and not the other way around . Guest tonfarben
yeah, makes totally sense. As I don´t have any hardware synth modules or rackthings or whatever, I totally forgot the possibility that a midikeyboard could be needed for direct control of hardware. Stupid me. :) Does your audio interface have midi out? That would be a possibility. Happy producing anyway. Don´t let the equipment control you, control the equipment! :) Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/63577-midi-keyboards/#findComment-1510944 Share on other sites

( i just won't have a pitch or mod wheel, i guess i can live with that) Edited February 11, 2011 by yek Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide YEK's signature Hide all signatures Reveal hidden contents !:/music Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/63577-midi-keyboards/#findComment-1514727 Share on other sites
Guest Blanket Fort Collapse
older midi keyboards should still will have functioning potentially super cheesy pitch and delightfully expressive mod wheels with the m audio midi to usb converter (which I use) Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/63577-midi-keyboards/#findComment-1514741 Share on other sites
YEK
well the keyboard i'm getting has 61 keys, supposedly better touch to the keys than older m-audios and also has it's own cheesy sounds i can use/ i've already made up my mind. as a piano player i think it will add to my creativity because it has more keys than my maudio oxygen 8 that has only 2 octaves.
