Guest ansgaria
The Norwegian everygenre-band is supposed to release their 8th studio record in this year and I'm looking forward to this like one would for the second coming of Christ. I adore the band so incredibly much, their black metal roots, their neo-classical era, the eletronic/glitch era and lately their chamber-like ambient music. Fucking hell. And now, it seems like they're ready with new material, one being the 'Critical Geography' record and later 'Psyche' which is to be a cover record. The track February MMX can be heard here, though in an unmastered version it seems: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BP-FLD7EHhs&feature=player_embedded The part around 2.56 has be wanting to loose myself in the music. Shit. Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/63657-ulver-critical-geography/ Share on other sites

Guest MortstoX
You gotta admire Ulver for how they have moved from one genre to another, but I really don't care much for their 90s output. Shadows of the Sun is definately my fav album, and this really sounds like a step in the wrong direction for me. Sounds like they try to pick up a lot of loose threads and make a pop song out of it. Have to give it a few more listens though. Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/63657-ulver-critical-geography/#findComment-1512350 Share on other sites
impakt
Their first black metal stuff is what I prefer, but that new track sounds good. Drix
Another Ulver lover here! I have to agree on Shadows of the Sun beeing their best album for me, but there are lots of other great ones. Techings in Silence is probably my 2nd favorite, and then A Quick Fix of Melancholy, Perdition City and Svidd Neger in random order, but I have all of them, and listen to all of them from time to time. New song was an unecpected turn for them. I've read it was going to be a psych-rock album, but this wasen't what I thought it would sound like. A bit too light and poppy for me i think, but will definately give it some more listenes before I make up my mind. Really looking forward to new material! Oh, and do go see them live! I've seen them 4 times, and all 3 were great.
