PJ Harvey -Let England Shake

Seing that the White Chalk thread got only three posts, I guess not many here are interested in this, but this is really good shit. Her best since To Bring You My Love, and a contender to album of the year. I see the RYMmers have placed her up there with Tim Hecker. Excellent.

yeah i'm a fan and this is a great album. battleship hill-england combo just floors me.

I've only played it once so far but I like it. However I don't agree with it being "Her best since To Bring You My Love". That album exposed me to her back in the day, but really nowadays I'm not a big fan of it and her singing style on that one. I think Stories From the City, Stories From the Sea and Uh Huh Her were good.

One thing that annoyed me on the first pass were the horns in "The Glorious Land". They seemed really out of place to me.

It seemed really solid otherwise. One fault (maybe?) is that she sounds like Siouxie in several songs. Sounds good, but reminds me more of her than PJ herself.
