Chronic Pain

Recommended Posts

I have chronic neck and back pain due to muscle spasm and horrible misalignment, and it fucking sucks. I've had it since before I can remember and it plagues me every day.

I had to call my boss shortly after I started my shift this morning to tell her I couldn't work today because it's so bad right now.

I've already smoked some weed and swallowed some muscle relaxers, painkillers, and even a chinese herbal remedy, and now I'm laying here in bed trying to minimize my movement in hopes that it will die down soon.

I want to tear my spine out and grind it to a powder with my teeth while I stomp on my back muscles until they're as thin as paper.

Does anyone else suffer from chronic pain? How do you cope?

A good friend of mine had chronic neck pain and back pain. He went to some specialist for acupuncture and it worked miracles, maybe you should check that out.

Guest Franklin

i have a great many clients that suffer from chronic pain. up here there are chronic pain clinics taught by pain specialists. I'd attend one where you are if they exist. other than that I would buy some books on chronic pain and try to follow the suggestions (pick only books from the last 2 years).

are your joints affected? when I was in florida, that's how it started. Neck and back pain, then eventually my joints went out of wack! went to a chiropractor, met a fly honey receptionist there, and got a little better. but it turned out that the humid florida weather is what did it to me. Because when I went back to cali, it all went away.

I've tried going to a chiropractor. It helps, but neither I nor my family can really afford it.

Accupunture did something interesting to me, but not in a way that seemed worthwhile to pursue further. The herbal mixture they gave me afterwards usually helps a lot though.

For one of my jobs I actually end up taking calls for the pain clinic here in Austin, and they're so terrible to their patients it's absurd. (Disclaimer: This is my opinion, not that of my employer.) I also don't have good insurance.

I should have my Canadian citizenship officialized within the year though. Can I get treatment up there without residency?

My joints aren't affected save my shoulder, and it's really a different, less severe matter. Both it and my back are typically affected by the weather. It rained today in fact.

aye. have been suffering from chronic back/neck/shoulder/arm/wrist/foot/ankle/basically my entire right side pain ever since being tboned while riding my bike to work a couple of years ago. did multiple rounds of pt, chiropractors, therapeutic massage, stretching etc and nothing ever seems to stick. i get the best relief from massage/pt but can't afford the time or money necessary to goto a specialist as often as i'd like (all day every day). don't want to take pain pills. i had an mri done of all 3 segments of spine that showed anomalies in all 3 segments including degenerative disc disorder, schmorl's nodes, and a herniated disc impinging nerves in my lumbar.

i ride 20 miles/day as a bike commuter to work and back and have recently gotten into indoor rock climbing. however, i'm in constant pain and man it sucks and makes me not want to do anything other than soak in a hot tub and get massages (which i never get to do)
