Spielberg wants to make Wikileaks Movie

maybe Spielberg lost too many conservative/centrist fans with Munich? now he wants to smear Assange in a film to become more middle of the road.

I wonder how he's going to work a couple of precocious children into this.

*Damnit* that was the idea I had a few months ago, that's the problem with having an idea in the middle of a heavy Saturday night out - the thought remains in your brain for roughly 10 seconds ...

yeah and not being spielberg/knowing nothing about cinema/not having a huge pile of money is another problem.

He was just vibing off the modern era 'street cred' facebook seemed to exude, and wants some of that. It's a pity that the facebook film really only serves to help the naive and disconnected to feel plugged into something that they'll never understand. Why spielberg would want some of that i just don't ........... oh right yeah, the money.

you are absolutely right. Even obvious ideas like say making a film about a public figure who is in the news RIGHT NOW is something the movie marketing is jumping all over this moment

I didn't see 127 hours but i even thought that was trying to capitalize on this phenomenon as well. Even that movie with Sean Penn called 'fair game' reeked of this , where he played joe wilson. I always think TV shows are better formats for 'ripped from the headlines' stories, although i have to admit i really did like Social Network.

the script will probably get leaked to wikileaks lol
