I've been reading a bit about this on and off over the past year or so. I find it fascinating, but I can't claim I understand it very much. I have watched a few of his lectures and listened to a small portion of his music, I'm unfortunately limited up here by how much media I can absorb by the high cost of bandwidth ($80 for 30GB a month, $10 for each GB over) and also limited in my ability to follow him, as he is incredibly quirky and references material and ideas I'm not very familiar with.

I thought I would reach out here and see if any one had explored this and what you had gathered from it, if you have experimented with any of the ideas. I also live in a bit of a cultural vacuum in many ways, so if you have had any experience with this in a live setting I would love to hear your impressions.

Also, get a load of that moustache! I trust the man immediately.

i'm not sure i get the point. there seems to be way more theory than there is actual pleasing sound, and if i may quote nassim nicholas taleb:

    Quote
A theory is like medicine (or government): often useless, sometimes necessary, always self-serving and on occasion lethal. So it needs to be used with care, moderation and adult supervision

There is definitely a lack of adult supervision going on there.

I sometimes enjoy getting wrapped up in paranoid delusions of a dystopian future and I had been reading a bit about Ray Kurzweil and his timeline for the evolution of artificial intelligence, rampant spread of nano machines etc. When I stumbled upon this fellow it really added a whole other surreal atmosphere to the thing. I think the idea is to make music in a way that a machine would find challenging and rewarding like we do and if thats correct it tickles me that he's really into it and trying to get his head around how to do it. It's all very fanciful I suppose, but it stirs my imagination.

Maybe you didn't hear me. Self promotional attempts are admirable, but we're not stupid (and are offended that you think we are).

and in the future, less gimmick.

Apparently we both enjoy paranoid delusions. I assure I am in no way affiliated with this fellow, aside I suppose from being in the fabulous moustache club. See below and note I am blowing smoke in your face as a dominant response to your ridiculous accusatory nature.

I do love mischief! I think this is where my love of raccoons comes from, the main survival skill seems to be the drive for mischief. Anyways, I hope my previous post wasn't interpreted as provocative, I was just having a bit of fun. I really am interested in this, it's just so beautifully strange.

Maybe one day if we are all ghosts in the web of nano machines you and me, Kurzweil and Goodiepal will all be having a laugh whilst listening to four dimensional music resonating out of moon speakers as the sun explodes.

I fucking love Goodiepal. I can never tell when he's dead serious and when he's fucking around. Also Mort Aux Vaches is amazing musically.

Seriously though, if you want an interesting read, read his wikipedia article.

He's a fascinating character! He has a wicked nerd punk thing going on. I have decided to breach my bandwidth cap in order to listen to Mort Aux Vaches.
