acid1
I was curious what sorta things you guys do with your Monome's and whether or not they are worth it. So I got a buddy who is willing to make me a 64h Monome with a case and everything, but I already have an apc40. I figure there has to be an angle I'm missing out on. acid1
I guess WATMM is anti-monome. Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/64517-monome/#findComment-1536058 Share on other sites
awepittance
If you already have an apc40 and use it with abelton there probably isn't much reason to get one. the only reason i can think of you should get a monome is if you planned to do a lot of custom implementation in max/msp or reaktor. Unless you have a kind of configurist/customization ethos, which in that case the monome is for you. there are things you CAN do with monome that you can't with APC40, and of course the other way around applies too. The APC40 has readily available templates/presets for many programs. The monome its more of a struggle to actually find the right stuff, when i finally found a patch to implement it into ableton i was very very happy. I feel like it in conjunction with ableton is very flexible and usable, moreso than the apc40. acid1
What did you end up using? Something like 7up? Last I checked, I was able to run all the monome apps in Ableton via the Monomulator. Ableton aside, does the monome excell at other daws, such as Renoise? Do you think the Monome is better performance wise? I feel like i'm missing an angle still. Hautlle
I have my mini-monome clone, I'm running SevenUp Live on it. That's all I've used it for. I like it for the quick/live uses, but I find I don't use it nearly as often as I probably could/should for production.
