It's mainly focussed towards the recording of nature sounds and is quite dry at times but:

(unfortunately I can't embed it for the lazy people ....)

I really liked the section about the sounds made by trees ( http://fora.tv/2009/09/22/Dr_Bernie_Krause_The_Great_Animal_Orchestra#Dr_Krause_Discovers_a_Singing_Cottonwood_Tree ). Growing trees are proper IDM !

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

this was very cool, thanks

if i may recommend a (vaguely) similar talk on a different scale, this was interesting:

GHOST: have you killed Claudius yet
HAMLET: no
GHOST: why
HAMLET: fuck you is why
im going to the cemetery to touch skulls

Bernie Kraus is one of my idols, his book is great too, reminds me a lot of this lecture. He (under Beaver & Krause, not the Comtruise coatail riders Keaver and Brause) is also responsible for the album 'the Nonesuch Guide to Electronic Music' which my new album on acroplane is a parody

Will probably check this out when I get back home later. I've always loved field recordings and have made a good bit of my own too.
