their first two albums are amazing. light & magic is particularly special and nostalgic for me. i saw them live and they were good...

third album was a miss, but the fourth picked up again. eager to hear their fifth!

edit:

First: 604

Second: Light & Magic

Third: Witching Hour

Fourth: Velocifero

Fifth: Gravity the Seducer (2011) (according to wiki...)

When I was younger the third one was my favourite, but the first two more synth-poppier ones grew on me over time. Haven't listened to them in a couple of years, but was thinking about digging Light & Magic out just the other day, actually.

i wager ladytron is gradually outpacing aphex in terms of time listened !

witching hour has a few good tracks -- sugar, for example -- but it felt too overproduced. too rinsed in reverb and deep concrete echos. i didn't feel the immediate emotional connection i felt with the first two albums, instead it felt monolithic and far less friendly.

fourth still has that reverb-y production but the songs do the job a lot better...

Ladytron will release their fifth full-length album, Gravity The Seducer, on September 12 (UK) / September 13 (US).

The album finds Ladytron framing the vocal melodies of twin singers Mira Aroyo and Helen Marnie within their most cinematic production to date. Gravity The Seducer was recorded this past summer in the Kent countryside with co-producer Barny Barnicott, who also worked on their third record Witching Hour and is wrapped in gorgeous artwork from now regular collaborator, Neil Krug.

Gravity The Seducer Track Listing:

1. White Elephant

2. Mirage

3. White Gold

4. Ace of Hz

5. Ritual

6. Moon Palace

7. Altitude Blues

8. Ambulances

9. Melting Ice

10. Transparent Days

11. 90 Degrees

12. Aces High

then there are some european tour dates too.

a tad nervous reading that description -- witching hour is my least-favorite ladytron album, largely due to the "cinematic" production. so much reverb the songs got buried. they came back a bit with velocifero.... hope the dude doesn't ruin this album too.

Really digging White Elephant and looking forward to the new stuff. Some really great quality videos (despite a bit of vocal clipping) of a show in Russia appeared on Youtube a few days ago. They're making me think pretty hard about catching them on tour:

I've always wanted to get a Ladytron album because of this song...

I love the song so much that I was afraid I would be disappointed by other stuff.

Where is a good spot to start and/or how is the rest of the album that this song is on?

once i loved ladytron, via light and magic

one day i went and bought weed, and got really high with the dealer

then he peaced and i had to drive home alone and terrified of police

ladytron made it not only ok, but incredible

id be more descriptive, if i understood the experience more than you now do

Cannot get into them, I've tried time and time again.

I have a friend who listens to a bunch of speedcore and other hardcore genres, but he loves this band.

I think Playgirl might still be their best track, but I'm only really familiar with their first couple albums.

They are really good live too with the full band.

All I know about them is that my friends that aren't really into electronic music like ladytron.

and a video of their faces inside snowy mountains(?) that I didn't like much.

MIRA IS HOT AND BULGARIAN.

I like Ladytron. When I want synthpop i'll usually listen to the real deal from the 80s but it's good now too! :nacmat:

I like fun 80s throwback Ladytron, & cinematic electronic rock Ladytron (but especially Light & Magic which is a bit different from both), so I look forward to this album either way.

not bad, but getting a bit too towards overdramatic new age blandness.

Always loved Ladytron, ever since the first album. I still think they make great albums but they take more time to get into than the first ones, and that's usually a good thing!

I quite like the new track although it was nothing like I expected.

The new album is floating around the torrent scene, NOT THAT I'D EVER SUGGEST PARTAKING IN THAT UNLAWFUL ACT.
