Hey guys, i have to write music for a documentary

The movie is about a student who moved to paris.

I have never written anything to anything before. It's been fun so far but actually i have no idea what i'm doing.

The director doesn't want the music to sound typically french, but i try to keep a romantic and vivid city in my head.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Would it be possible for you to post pictures/screenshots from the documentary so we can see what it is your music will be complimenting? Also, is it a playful documentary? Because the first track gives me the impression that it's a light hearted indie documentary whereas the second track has a more melancholy sound to it.

I only got a fex scenes in very low resolution. Some shots of the city and an interview with the student.

Since the director cannot answer my mails at the moment, i'm preparing for different "styles".

Also i try to get a general idea of making soundtracks.

...the second track isn't likely to be used in the movie. I thought the director might wanna show a church or some other very quiet, kinda mystical place. Otherwise i'll maybe use it in a song.

Even though I still don't know anything about the pacing of the documentary I would slow the music down. Slow soundtracks always work ;)

I'll simply present the slower versions as remixes or whatever, in case he wants to "go in another direction or something"

nice slow dry repetitive eno roach melodies, very nice, should work out for this project
