I don't know why, but I never seem to meet many people who are in to Husker Du. It doesn't make any sense to me.

Definitely one of the best and most creative bands to come out of the early 80s hardcore scene. They thought nothing of releasing a two-disc concept album...

And at the same time, they wrote catchy pop songs which had a massive impact on the development of "alternative rock" etc. in the late 80s and onwards.

I know there are some fans on here so let's talk about our favourite songs, records etc!

Without a doubt. Certain tracks get on my nerves though (Hare Krishna for one). One of the only failings of the group in my opinion is that they don't have any albums that are A+ quality from start to finish - most of 'em have at least a couple of tracks of filler. But when they hit a peak, they're absolutely incredible.

New Day Rising is the most consistent, I reckon... and it's probably my favourite overall!

I have tried on many occassions to get into them but always come away dissapointed. Maybe I tried the wrong albums/tracks.

I will check your youtube clips a bit later as I refuse to give up on them, proberbly because I love Sugar so much (Copper Blue and Beaster).

yeah... I liked them back in the day. but around that time I was consumed by hip hop so I didn't give them much attention until like around 2001-2002. I really loved that Makes No Sense song and still do. All these indie bands of today should pay homage to this band!

more into land speed record than their later stuff, that album kills

Another enthusiastic fan of Land Speed Record?! Fuck yeah!!

For me Land Speed Record is a very interesting, slept on record but I like all I've heard from them, namely it, Everything Falls Apart, Zen Arcade and New Day Rising.

it's true fucking hardcore! "The title has a double meaning, referring to both the band's ability to play as fast as they could (there are 17 songs crammed into 26½ minutes) and their penchant for amphetamine pills, which they took mostly as appetite suppressants due to lack of money to buy food."
