He also sampled Christina Aguilera on one track.

ghost hardware

(also michael jackson on 'nite train' - here's hoping the copyright lawyers never get wind of that one)

some anon editors have done a fucking AMAZING job sourcing all the samples on wiki

Nice one- I always thought that Beyonce sample was a guy. Didn't he say something about a lot of the vocals being contributed by friends over the phone or something if I'm recalling correctly? Probably just bs because Hyperdub couldn't afford to clear those samples

Shows that with a little creativity and skill you can make something awesome out of just about anything...

Yeah, I was like "holy shit, that's proper trainspotting!" Reminds me of the video where someone found all of the samples for "smack my bitch up" and threw them together in ableton. I digress...

Beyond what Burial does with the samples, there's something to be said about how unpretentious and familiar the sources are. It's a key part of why his music resonates to me.

While the topic is Buriel: I'll always be fascinated by the rhythms in "Exit Woundz". There are reloading guns used as beats in 7/4 while the bass kick and the synths are in 4/4 at a different tempo.

what's pretty surprising is how many of the mostly instrumental tracks on the first album have samples in them.

I want to know where the "I can't take my eyes off you" samples came from in Near Dark.

It's sampled from a cover version of the beyonce track I think. Not sure which gender though since that's easily shifted.

Listening to "NYC" last night and noticed Marlo Stanfield (The Wire) at the end of the tune saying "Don't rush me on shit, I'll get at you when I'm at you."

Not sure if this has been picked up yet.
