A little rough around the edges, but I lost my Ableton file so here it is. One of my first attempts at ambient/drone music. Honest critique welcome.

It is a nice sounding piece, but the problem with this style of music is that a lot of people end up using very similar sounding synth sounds, and cover everything in reverb and it can all end up sounding very similar.

Yeah, that's certainly a fair comment. I don't pretend to have carved out a unique sound here. This was mostly an experiment with a process. Most of the tweaking / progressions were done live in a single take. You're right though, I need to spend more time creating some unique textures.

My only beef with your tune is that it's too loud - and I would have turned down the fuzz/distortion if I was you. But then again, you created it live and there's no way of correcting that so I guess that doesn't matter now :) But you hit the right amount of distortion right around 4:44. If you've still got the .wav file you should copy+paste the ending into a new project and make a new tune out of that and top it with a hypnotic melody that catches the listener's attention :)
