Guest mollekula
hi folks. ive a got trouble placing this dubby bass in the mix. Dubby Bass I have no experience concerning using compression or limiters and just starting to learn this stuff. im currently writing an ambient track and want to use this dubby bassline. could you please guide my on what to EQ on this bass, and what would be the ideal settings on a compressor so that the subs of the bass can be heard both loud&clear, and not to kill all the rest sounds of the track in the mix. Your help would be invaluable guys. Edited April 8, 2011 by mollekula Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/65224-dubby-bass/ Share on other sites
acidphakist
Seeing as it's just ambient music, throw it in the mix and forget about it. It won't make one shit bit of difference. acidphakist
Well, I didn't listen to the track but I'd advise the following: cut the lows starting around 40 hz, boost with a gentle Q around 100 hz, take a cut out around 350 hz....check your levels because you shouldn't need compression if you don't have beats going on (in my opinion). Guest mollekula
thank you people. any hints on compression? normally i like the track without any beats on it, but ive chopped a nice break and put it through Camel Phat3. i got a nice fuzzy distorted break which i like actually, so in case i choose to work with the beats on how should i compress the bass? there are stuff about it written on the net but it would be nice if you could recommend me some compressor settings.
