Low is his best imo, the second side is GLORIOUS ambient / synth music, first side is bent pop

Heroes the album after (2nd in the "Berlin Trilogy") and is quite good but not as good as Low

Hunky Dory has some utterly essential shit on it but also a few tracks ('Kooks' comes to mind) that have not aged well at all

Station to Station is fantastic but probably not a good one to get into early on, maybe give Heathen a go as it is fucking fantastic and is a bit more modern sounding (it's from 2002). 'Sunday' and the title track are absolutely mindblowing.

The EP he released for I'm Afraid of Americans is a good one to get into early; it's essentially a Nine Inch Nails record and is pretty killer

Ziggy Stardust is a good one as well.

the best place to start is his best of bowie at the beeb set. it's got his best music from each phase of his career in stripped down to rock band arrangements. really the only bowie album anybody needs to own.

his punk influences pop up throughout, which is great

Listen to the AFX remix.

Download the original.

Hate it.

Download Earthling.

Like it.

Hear him here and there.

Get his greatest hits.

Done.

almost every album hes done is at least worth a listen.

but my totally essential ones are:

Hunky Dory

Station to Station

Low

Heroes

Lodger

Scary Monsters

Heathen

glad someone else mentioned Heathen. that album is fucking amazing...he has aged well...solid crooning voice.

Went through a massive Bowie stage about a decade ago. It took me a while to get into him because the bloke wears make-up lol.

I would say Hunky Dory, Scary Monsters, Low, Heroes, Spiders from Mars are all classics.

Tin Machine :emotawesomepm9:

i'm with futuregirlfriend. that's what got me hooked.

Tin Machine 2 was actually the first Bowie album I ever bought... when I was a lad.

Hunt and Tony Sales from Iggy Pop's "Lust For Life" and "The Idiot" are back with Bowie on it.

Best rock rhythm section since Zeppelin.
