I'd facking love to have some good analog drums, also without spending like 3497287 dollars to get it.

I'm thinking of building 5-6 modules of syndrum, and midi-ing them up w/ an arduino.

Does anyone have the schematics for the boards? Or any other links to interesting kits. I think once you remove the requirement of pitch sensitivity, you can make an analog voice really easily...

Coron DS7/DS8 super easy, also lots of good options to mod them

if you look at the DS8 for example, it's pretty obvious where to put in a CV input, or add an envelope, etc.

here's a ds7 i made

ya I'll add some links I found so far...

http://www.experimentalistsanonymous.com/diy/index.php?dir=Schematics << crazy collection of schematics of everything.

http://www.diystompboxes.com/wpress/ <<forum of dorks who build stompboxes.

http://matrixsynth.blogspot.com/2009/06/synare-sensor-drum-synth-kit-circuit.html < and this is what I'd love to get a schematic for.

I'd love to build a few different modules and put them all in one box...

This guy is generally solid, but don't expect bug-free PCBs or schematics. I built a MIDI-CV/gate converter and it was unbearably noisy (the 60 hz hum somehow made its way into the cv) and it turned out the crystal needed to be changed amongst other things.

A great starting point, however.

nice. This guy's name pops up quite often around the analog circuit. I probably would have looked him up sooner or later. :D

Gotta be honest, you're probably just as well going down the DIY modular route. Once you've got a cabinet and power supply sorted (really easy if you go Eurorack now), then everything's pretty easy after that... It ain't cheap though.

ya I'm really not wanting to get into the modular thing.... Seems like more of a technical hobby kinda thing as opposed to something I would actually use to make music productively. Seems like it would be really easy to slip into the "ah if I only had a XXX module then it would be awesome" route. I just want some nice analog drums. :)

The modular rabbit hole is too deep and doesn't go in the direction I'm after ATM. Maybe in the future though.

That's cool, I'm glad you can stop yourself hehe! I was in the same "I want analogue drums" boat for quite a while, then I discovered these videos and was totally blown away.

The whole wanting-X-module-to-do-Y is definitely the biggest issue I have with my modular system, it's an endless spiral of spending cash, either on built modules or components + panels.

Guest hahathhat

you can do a modular for cheap, if you're patient:

- spend your only real cash on a power supply

- find some dead old piece of equipment to use as a shell. it's not gonna be eurorack

- work from schems on perfboard instead of buying PCBs

- figure out bare minimum of what you need and stick to it

should be a happy few months of burning your fingers and scratching your head when shit doesn't work

I do, as well. I would use it so much more if it had modular patch points.

Any specs you can share with me, hat?

does anyone know of any more different one-shot/one voice type synths that would make nice percussion sounds?

ALSO is that syndrum get a velocity modulation from the intensity that you hit the piezzo?
