Are you really this cool/nice/cynical/arrogant IRL?

A lot of people pose on the internet.

Some like to create a whole new persona, while others just let a particular facet of themselves flourish into full bloom.

They might be slightly cynical in real life, but when on the internet their full capabilities are unleashed.

This can be a good thing, and can free you up to be more creative.

How does your carefully cultivated WATMM persona compare to your actual personality?

Have you had the opportunity to observe others in both circumstances?

Did that loud mouth badass turn out to be a socially inept introvert?

I act the same as I do in real life for the most part. Sometimes I talk out of my ass more on the internet though, which is just plain foolishness, because it's easier to fact check than irl.

i recognize that i'm mostly being an arse online, much more so than irl.

WATMM brings out the worst in me. I'm far less cynical IRL.

I also use the word I a lot more on the net. Probably something to do with a cognitive-dissonance-desire for feedback from writing meaningless text which is not as much an issue irl. look at ME look at ME

if i'm around people i'm comfortable with, i'm pretty much the same as i am on here, yah.

I don't think I'm less cynical on the internet, I just think I withhold it a lot more IRL.

I'm more reserved offline too, just out of respect for people I suppose. I don't do crazy shit just to get attention or fuck with people. I find that somewhat annoying.

But online, I think I can get fairly crass, and it's fun.

I was thinking about this. I didn't get the feeling there was an in-crowd here. I don't think there is much pretense here generally, but like any music community there can be elitism where the tunes are concerned. I find all that to be bullshit though, as what someone finds interesting is none of my business and doesn't affect me at all. This doesn't stop me from ragging on stuff from time to time just for sport.

Now that you mention this, Rumbo does this too. It's actually something Rumbo thought about a while back and tried to limit. Rumbo doesn't find it easy to kick.

everyone here thinks i'm a whiny meanie. which i guess is true. with the relative anonymity of an internet forum and dweebs like troon and boxing day to get angry about, i come across a lot more hateful than i really am. I hope watmmers that i've met can vouch.
