songs written for ex-girlfriends

so this night I wrote a song for/about my ex-girlfriend, and while exporting it I thought this might just be a common inspiration spring for all of us, so please show me your souls. I would share it, but I prefer not to be accused of shameless self-promoting, so I'll post it if the thread will be rolling

there is one early one from high school. i'd post it, but it's crap. i'd just started writing music a year or two before and i was pretty clueless. how about the one i wrote when my first dog died?

It's a nice idea in theory, but for every "Blood on the Tracks" there's two-dozen "Duntisbourne Abbots Soulmate Devastation Techniques".

Also, I've never written anything for an ex - but I've written a couple of poems for current partners. They're mostly crap though.

The subject doesn't really inspire me in the way, say, rivers do... and they've generally been done out of a sense of obligation. "If I'm writing at all, I HAVE to write something for the person I love!" That's jive. And so these days I don't bother.

My first EP for for my now ex girlfriend...and my first album could have been as well...

I've done some tracks that were sort of about current girls or girls who'd recently become ex. I don't know if I ever really finished any but I'll upload some bits when I'm home. I've never done them to show though, just for personal catharsis or something, usually just end up dismantling them and using the parts for real tracks later.

Thinking back, I did actually once include a close-up photo of my then-girlfriend's eye in the UI of a VST I wrote years ago.

What's wrong with "Duntisbourne Abbots Soulmate Devastation Techniques"? It's a really different turn for Mike P, and it has a really brooding feel to it. Plus if he actually wrote it just using grooveboxes, that's pretty fucking sweet.

Anyways, I never wrote anything specifically for a girlfriend, wife, ex, whatever. I did use my ex-wife's voice in a couple of tracks though.
