effects

anyone recommend me some good all-round effects units/racks/pedals, etc. for not toooo much money?

not softwares, thanks (poo-poo!) i mean proper heavy old lovely and warm sounding FX units.

Haters gonna hate, but a friend of mine has one of these in his live rig and it's dead fun to use, endless joy freaking people out with loops of themselves playing over the PA (yes, it has a crude sampler). For the money you really can't go wrong.

nah i want like a multi effects unit.. rack, preferably. something new (i mean new to use, doesn't have to be brand new) and a bit different to run some things through. i don't mind even if it's ancient, weighs a tonne and has only 10 FX, just aslong as it sounds good.

kaoss pads are good tho for 'on the fly' live effecting and messing about, etc.

I just recently aquired a Midiverb II I love it. Not sure how much you can pick them up for these days though.

Ensoniq DP2. Or a DP4 or DP4+.

edit: it's specfically that pad bit that i don't want. i just want a regular good FX unit of some sort. but something a bit different and not too pricey.

preferably in rack form (as mentioned), but i don't mind pedals, either.

yeah see quite a few of those on ebay... was checkin 'em out earlier. t'is a possiblity. they look alright.

Boss VF1 - 24bit multi FX and very cheap 2nd hand, it older brother the SE70 is also good and was famously used by the Prodigy and Underworld's vocal processing

yep i've got one of these. the reverb is so beautiful, almost as good as a quadraverb imo. better in some ways.

i haven't checked out the other effects very much, i mostly just use it as a reverb unit but apparently the vocoder is pretty amazing.

Can you have to separte sound sources / channels being effected seperately at the same time through this? Looks damn fun with all its knobs on the front and I see they're real cheap in the local adds so might be tempted to pick one up a seperate fx unit for my new Rolad JV1080! ;-)

I've never tried to do that, but I don't think it can, sorry! Mind they're cheap enough to purchase several...

Gonna be get myself a Midiverb 2 and Zoom Multi FX today! Yay! ;-)
