Techincal issues with a mixer

Recommended Posts

I have a Behringer UB-2222FX mixer and I was playing with it today, left it powered on alone for a while, and came back into my room to hear a deadly-sounding static screaming out of my headphones. Luckily they weren't hurt, but my mixer keeps making the sound. It differs in sound when the built-in effects are selected.

Any ideas? Is this even the right place?

what type of stattic? high pitched or low pitched? and does it happen only when a certin input is in or on? and what levels is everyhting set at ?maxed out or no?

Could be feedback from your wall outlet. Do you have a lot of different electrical fields running in the area that might penitrate the circuitry. Like radios and guitar amps and computers and coffee makers? I know that kind of shit make buzz noises in mixers and inputs. If you unplug the inputs do you still get noises?

High pitched, mostly. No noticable low frequencies. Sounds like a waterfall with the volume up 700 times more. The inputs can all be off or on, it doesn't make a difference.

Possibly. I'll try it in different areas and see if that does it.

Thanks for the interest/help. I feel like a woman again!

yeh, sounds like your internal aux is fried.

behringer are ok, but they don't last very long. especially if you gig with them.

Good mixer

Pioneer DJM600 (really expensive)

Pioneer DJM400 (out soon, not as expensive)

Numark DMX06 (I picked this up pretty cheaply, basic onboard effects, good sound quality and feels sturdy)

Behringer are shit. You really get what you pay for with them.

behringer isn't shit; it's pretty ok value for money.

i have a behringer mixer myself, it's been working for 2 years now.

it leaks quite a bit though and the potentiometers are of shitty quality; lots of noise when turning them and they get 'loose' after a while. the equalizer sounds real lo-fi and crappy but it's great for making sick distorted sounds (gabba kicks!!).
