Sparkle Motion - Video Lost the War

Recommended Posts

Been loving this sound since the first minimal wave compilation came out, reminds me of the stuff that got me into electronic music at a very young age. Representing the DIY minimal wave style of the early 80s, cheap analog synths, detached vocals, tape compression and all. Recommended for all you synth pop, minimal wave, and post punk lovers out there.

Cheers, would love to take credit for the art, but it's the work of Erika Iris Simmons. She makes art out of old tape and video cassettes among other things and she is awesome.

Ahh brilliant, haven't been on watmm in ages and there's 9 mixes waiting for me! I still listen to your mixes all the time, all my mates love them even though they don't like a lot of the music I listen to.

Listen to Colt 45, Chasse pour le requin... and four seasons the most. Awesome mixes.

Looking forward to these. Thanks so much!

Cheers, I really appreciate that! Hope you enjoy the new stuff, I've got something rather special in the works so keep an eye out in a couple months

Also, shit, I kind of totally forgot about Four Seasons, that mix is almost 7 years old! I don't even remember posting it on here, but awesome that you like it. Been a good 5 years since I have listened to it myself, will have to check it out again.

If you like the library music/psychedelic feel of La Chasse... I'm sure you will dig Tommy Forester Is Dead. And if you're down for a bit of creepiness, Angel Of The Bottomless Pit is a darker version of this theme as well. A couple 80s cold wave mixes, a couple dub, a couple retro synth, and some other surprises make up the rest of the new stuff. And my work in progress is my most ambitious yet, going beyond just audio...

Never checked out your mixes before, they sound awesome just from the descriptions..."themed around 2001@ a space Odyssey" "themed around the strangeness that lurks in the deep sea" "themed around lsd"

I have a feeling your mixes are going to introducing me to a lot of new music. cheeeers

Cheers Swerm, hope you enjoy these, I try to do something different with each mix. Over time I've decided that a theme for each mix is important to me, rather than just a "top jams of the moment" type of mix.

I'd be interested to hear which ones you like the best and would be happy to recommend other mixes or music based on that. Happy listening!

if you like minimal wave, check out stuff on the 'not not fun' and 'katabatilk' label, two of the best new minimal wave-ish imprints out right now.

Yeah I love Not Not Fun, I have an upcoming mix that will feature a lot of that label along with Olde English Spelling Bee and Hippos In Tanks. Some of my favorite labels right now. Will check Katabatik, thanks for the recommendation.

I ignored this mix before as I (thought I) didn't like Synth Pop but you proved me wrong once again and introduced me to a new genre!

I played this one during a four hour train trip I took to visit the lady, played it on my the way there, and on the way back. During my stay also. Whilst wandering around town and along all the medieval half-timbered houses, we kept saying If You Wanna Ride ................................ Don't Ride The White Horse. It made for a neat contrast. Great mix once again, and I only checked it out because your SmashTV one introduced me to this new type of music. :emb:
