Guest Hamming windoW
Haven't done any broken beat stuff for years until a month or so ago, it's good fun! http://soundcloud.com/hammingwindow/furious-lullaby Couple of other acid tracks on my soundcloud page too. Swerm
Ooh er! this track is pretty, really enjoying it. Like when the acid comes in, it's proper "runny" sounding and hyperactive. I'd like that bass in the background to stand out a bit more though, give the thing a bit more bass-weight :) Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/66082-hamming-window-furious-lullaby/#findComment-1580142 Share on other sites
Guest Hamming windoW
Cheers for the feedback. I get what you mean about the bass, I put it a bit further back because it was a bit crowded with the busy drums. I might try another mixdown with it more prominent. Guest hahathhat
when i saw the squarepusher's song titled "hanningfield window" my brain immediately changed it to HAMMINGFIELD WINDOW. as in, the hamming distance of a code. perhaps your name came from this train of thought as well ??? as for the song: do not really like the percussion. percussion is too spazzy. lots of little edits, but no larger structures to tie it together into a unified fing. just not coherent enough for the speed it's running at..... but the song is quite nice when it doesn't sound like a drum kit falling down a long stairwell. Guest Hamming windoW
haha I guess that's fair enough. Perhaps you'd prefer this sort of track, it's a lot slower and more melodic focused rather then falling drum kits The name, Hamming windoW comes from signal processing actually, it's one of a number of window functions that are used in spectral analysis and filter design. Curiously enough there is a Hann, or Hanning, Window too, that is quite similar to the Hamming Window in design. Perhaps pusher was making a reference to that? Interesting squarepusher track btw, haven't heard that one before, cheers. Guest hahathhat
melody sounds like crying in your face. i like it! it's quite possible squarepusher was referencing filter design, given his use of reaktor, the eventide processors, etc. hanningfield window was hello everything era, and i get the impression he was getting into that a more and more, graduating into JAS which is just.... sdlfjslkfdigital insanity Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/66082-hamming-window-furious-lullaby/#findComment-1582506 Share on other sites
