Guest Diao
Depends on how much you want your router to do. I have a MOTU MIDI Timepiece that I'm selling at the moment. It allows routing of not only the different MIDI inputs to the different MIDI outputs, but also single out the individual MIDI channels of the individual inputs and send those out in any combination to any of the outputs. Its pretty slick. I'm only selling it because I needed something with more than 8 outputs. You can cascade multiple units together, but I don't need anything that is as complicated as the Timepiece, so I opted for a KMX MIDI Central. Now if you don't need something as fancy as the Timepiece, I would recommend the KMX MIDI Central. Ensoniq bought them out a while into the MIDI Central production, so some of them also have Ensoniq stamped in the upper left hand corner. Anyway, the MIDI Central is just a simple router with 15 inputs and 16 outputs. You can send any of the inputs to any of the outputs, but the only merging of inputs you can do are inputs 1&2. One of the nice things is that it can store 99 different configurations in ROM, not a battery, so you don't have to worry about replacing dead batteries over the years. Guest Promo
I just bought another one of these from Amazon for £5 and plugged my original one into my JV 1080 which now gives me a dedicated USB Audio input in Ableton. Does the job basically and is cheap as chips.
