Xiu Xiu

Anyone a fan of Xiu Xiu? I haven't really seen them mentioned much around here but I figure there's gotta be someone who likes their (well, his) particular brand of noisy depression.

yeah "they're" great, even though i kinda stopped listening to them after fabulous muscles i'm sure they're still making good, honest music, it's just not something i'm into now. the film they got the name from is good too, and its not pronounced as "shoe shoe" :sup:

much like the band's music, i suppose.

I looove Xiu Xiu! Yeah it's pretty depressing music but I guess when you're in a bad mood it all seems to make sense. And I've been in a bad mood a lot lately. It's a great balance of noise/chaos and melody. I haven't got all their albums but so far The Airforce is my favourite.

I feel like a dick for posting in a thread just to say I can't stand the subject, but maan, xiu xiu annoys me to no end for some reason. I can't even figure out why... I just can not stand their music. I recall reading one of their lyrics once, about "looking out a window eating tofu" or something, and that's exactly what this band sounds like to me. Needlessly unpleasant. They're one of a small handful of bands that causes this feeling in me.

With that said, I got a chance to see Jherek Bischoff (one of the old members of Xiu Xiu) play solo here in Seattle a few years ago and it was amazing. I bought a copy of his CD, but I seem to have misplaced it... =[ That dude has gotta be around 8 feet tall, and one of the most gentle people I've ever encountered. was a lol

You probably don't like it cause it's simplistic beginner droSs of the type you could find wafting out of a myriad little music district dive bars. If seen from space it would be like a string of turds, twinkling brownly around the world.
