Anyway - these charges against the Head of the IMF do not surprise me. I'm sure notions of "power" and "dominance" are reinforced when you are at the top in some of the most elitist positions hence giving rise to aberrant behaviours. I hear it is an allegation for now, but quite honestly I don't care for this incident - if it's true then yes of course it is sad, but there are way more important problems in the world to focus on.

Ahh clearly Sarkozy planted the maid in the hotel years in advance, cloned his cell phone and other personal effects and then had her make the rape accusation in order to prevent the socialists from winning the upcoming election.

English newspapers don't seem to take the full measure of who this man is. French presidential elections are due for next year and the french political landscape hasn't been that wierd in years. Bascially, Sarkozy (UMP) is very unpopular : although he has been more exposed in the media during the past years than the sum of all the presidents since 1958 (berlusconization) he's the least popular president of the fifth republic (around 25% of positive opinions). His main magic trick, fueling resentment against foreigners (his campain was mainly about insecurity + roms + veil + burqa + the debate about "national identity" (twice) etc) seem to be broken. Far right voters are more likely to vote for marine lepen, since his father, that ugly one-eyed fascist, retired. Mediatically, she's not as "cursed" as he is and people are less ashamed to vote for her. Meanwhile, the right is exploding, 2 or three centre parties have already forked out of it while the socialists are still very weak and lack the strength to unify the left like they use to do back in the 80s. There are currently 4 parties on the right (including the far right and the right-center) and 4-5 on the left (including everyone else). 1 or 2 months ago the polls were like this :

DSK(Le Perv, socialist) - 35 %

Le pen (far-right) - 20 %

Sarkozy - 18 %

I don't think there arewas many people who really supported DSK. He was more the subject of a consensus among left voters since he was from far the least faggy socialist candidate. Now, the situation is kinda desperate since there isn't any strong candidate able to unify the left for the first round of the elections. I wouldn't be surprised if the second round implied sarkozy vs le pen (a fucking horrible scenario if you ask me).

Conspiracy theories also have a support. In july-august of last year, during the bettencourt scandal (a landmine under sarkozy's feet), two independent newpapers had their office broken in. They only stole hard drives that contained infos about this affair. Two journalists from less independent newspapers had their computer, gps and cellphone stolen from their houses as well.

Under these circumstances I'm open to ANY conspiracy theory. Just like in the case of Assange: there are too many elements involved which win from someones loss.

Most of the time it's the "she" who's more afraid. And would you bite a guy's willy off if you'd be put into a similar situation? Bite a willy off, and deal with that aftermath, or get him off and be over with it. Doesn't seem like a trivial choice to me. Women are not in the dominant position to have much choice anyways. Have you ever arm-wrestled one?

As a maid (cleaning beds and all) she'd probably be covered with all kinds of DNA. Without penetration there's not going to be a lot of credible DNA evidence, I'd think. In the worst case scenario there isn't any physical evidence at all. And then it's her word against his. The maid against the head of the IMF.
