J3FF3R00
What got me thinking about him was this video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXBlY5CImUU&feature=player_embedded#at=11 I have to admit that I cried when I watched this. OK, maybe he isn't exactly IDM. He is fucking awesome though. Graceland is one of the best albums ever. If I was Joyrex, I'd give him an honorary LTM account. Discuss. also... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBEomCtCujw This song was played at a friend of mine's memorial service recently. So perfect. marf
how did Simon find Garfunkel? Or the other way around? Im mean seriously. How did they find each other? My Dad was a singer in the 60's and he met Garfunkel in the lobby of RCA victor (or was it the offices of Huge and Luge?, anyway). Garfunkel was staring at a stone he found. In total rapture over this stone he found in the street. He looked up and mentioned to my Dad how amazing the stone was to him. J3FF3R00
He was probably high on all kinds of LSD. Either that or he was just a complete moron. I think they basically met when they were kids. I know he really didn't contribute anything to Paul Simon's songwriting. He couldn't just tag along forever, kinda like Andrew Ridgeley. Guest hahathhat
why hate a tag-a-long if they don't fuck it up, and maybe even add a bit or two? Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/66181-paul-simon/#findComment-1583418 Share on other sites
keltoi
no way art was a tag along! that voice, those harmonies... the perfect match for simon's song writing genius (few can tell a story like PS can in 3 minutes). i've got a raging soft spot for them and have all their releases on vinyl. they remind me of long summer holiday road trips with my family in the early 80's. wasn't really into paul's solo stuff but graceland is another retrospective slice of my dad's car journey sound tracks. wednesday morning 3am is a special song for me and 'the girl that i love' ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtAx4scHawQ&feature=related Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide keltoi's signature Hide all signatures Reveal hidden contents Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/66181-paul-simon/#findComment-1583598 Share on other sites
J3FF3R00
Ok, maybe he wasn't a tag-along. Sorry about that. He really was a great element to have in the songs. You have to admit though, he basically got paid to sit on a stool and sing while Paul did the hard stuff. Guest Coalbucket PI
I have a (possibly) irrational hate for Paul Simon but I just think he's a cunt from the very core of his being. I think this all goes back to a Parky interview I saw many years ago where he came across a bit smug, which I have nostalgically blown out of all proportion but I'm sticking with it.
