Recommended Posts

how could you condense something as this into 'samples' ?

do you not understand the intent of the release?

Listened to hafler/ae on my cheap speakers and thought it was dull, listened to it on my headphones and thought it was dull. I guess if it's in 5.1 it'll be dull but surround.

For samples of the first one, use a blow dryer.

For samples of the second one, plug something in and out of an amp while the amp is on.

I don't know, they're pretty accurate descriptions (thought I'd say the other way round) and I liked them both. One of my favourite albums is based on nothing but the sound of a microphone swinging in front of a broken heater - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_Weather_Machine_Re:Heat

Au contraire! I like them very much, and I was lucky enough to pick up the second one second hand, although it's missing the photographs.

But, that said, am I wrong?

I don't think this kind of music should be held high above every day sounds. I think one of the perks of listening to this kind of music is that you can appreciate every day sounds. When I was living in Germany, whenever I walked by the washing machine (German washing machines sound wacky, for those two don't know) I thought "Hey! I know this song!" before realizing it was the washing machine again.

 Yeah, I've done similar things to that - when I was speaking to one of my nieces on the phone I asked her what that incredible music was playing in the background. Apparently the boiler was broken.

I get you. I haven't heard anything at all by Ae/Hafler. So I'm looking forward to hearing whether your description is apt. :-)

Ooh, you're in for either a treat and a brave new journey on the world of drone music - or you're gonna be disappointed and bored out of your mind ....
