thread titles in ylc

i have noticed some people in their ylc thread titles describe their tracks as being good (e.g. Erothyme), i mean, isn't it up to the listener if it's good or not?

or why do you post here for free in a forum designed for critiquing other members' tracks, if you know deep down in your heart that we should lick your balls?

and am i the only person that thinks that's kind of egregious: that we should be humble about our works in progress/keep up the vital sense of community?

I've wondered about this but I don't know if it makes a difference. Generally I wonder about what makes people interested in things based on titles, because for tracks that I post on there, sometimes I'll get 1 response, but every now and then there are tons, so I wonder if the title has something to do with it... Also on Youtube I don't really understand why some videos are seen like 10x the amount of other ones I've posted.

well, i love a good track title, but thread titles don't really guide me when i go on ylc... i guess i've learned by now some people who think they are hot stuff are in my opinion cold doo-doo

the humble thing to do would be to let those people call their threads whatever they want, and not make some flamebait thread mentioning specific names.

flamebait is in the eye of the beholder... i don't expect much to come of this, but we can discuss it without throwing heavy words at each other

edit: besides, if i didn't mention who's doing it, you wouldn't know what i was talking about... it's only a few members that do it to be honest

if you have a problem with someone, do it over a PM, and try to be nice about it. i can understand being annoyed by people -- there are some really crappy spellers/etc. around here, which annoys me. but that's how people be. you can't change 'em. best you can do is lead by example !

again you misunderstand... my problem is not with the people who are doing this, but that it exists on watmm, regardless of who causes it... it's a public topic

I don't really get your point. What is the thread title supposed to change about the music in it ? The fact is that you'll like it or not, period. Also, good / bad tracks doesn't exist as this is just a matter of taste. So one can describe a track of him with some attractive words because he personally thinks the track is good, although he remains curious about the way people will receive it.

I don't really read the titles/descriptions. I'll just go into YLC every few weeks if the people I follow on Soundcloud haven't been uploading a lot, & pick some stuff at random.

So we shouldn't express our feelings about our own tunes? If he thinks the track is good/is proud of it then more power to him. If people disagree then that's the point of YLC innit?
