Guest jim
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kx1uw4n575M Just been getting into this lately. I don't normally gush over world music but this really is wonderful- strange, eerie, meditative, sparse but not simplistic... just ticks every single box for me. Anyone else like Gagaku? Guest jim
Yeah I've heard the messiaen. I don't think it really works actually. Certainly loses a lot of the original charm when he thickens out the harmony to meet western 20th century standards... I feel. I've been enjoying this one http://avaxhome.ws/music/ethnic_world/kunaichogakubujapanesetraditionalmusicgagaku.html I'm sure you can pay for it too. Also love the Sho, the thing providing the harmonic backdrop. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUpr1F1dZt0&feature=related On 6/4/2011 at 6:41 PM, Zephyr_Nova said: Yeah, I really like it, never knew what the genre name was until now.
