please tell me what i'm doing wrong/right

kind of ambient-ish minimalistic, sort of, i guess. made in reason 5/record 1.5 using some sounds i recorded using a tascam portable recorder.

edit: i always get the feeling that soundcloud really ruins the quality of the stuff i upload. i don't know why this is, since other electronic stuff i listen to usually sounds good. it probably has to do with my mixing, i'm not very good at that.

I actually really enjoyed this, very refreshing actually considering the recent wave of polished, boring, aphex fanboy shit. The sounds at the start of this track (and throughout , but well I think you know which sound I'm referring to) remind me of vi scose poise and that is a good thing . Wasn't that fond of the super glitchy glitch attack at the end

double post edit: yeah that part at the end was made by fucking stuff up in audacity. i feel it makes everything sound really dirty and kind of cheap but that's kind of a double-edged sword. i'm glad you like it, i've been trying to move away from aphex territory as well

But seriously.

Good synth, especially when it gets deep and bassy.

Drums could use some work.

thanks. the drums are kind of difficult to work with, since they really only consist of static emitted by my shitty speakers that i recorded.

I was thinking maybe some reverb on that nice high synth that comes in about a minute or so in to the track. i am a sucker for good verb though.

hm yeah. i'm using reason 5, which makes making good reverb somewhat of an issue, but i've been thinking of just using acoustic reverb by playing the synth part in my basement or something while recording it (making my neighbours really happy).
