Our favorite Swiss producer-vocalist-visionary Dimlite has an album coming out soon. Yes, you heard that right – he’s finished an album. It’s called The Grimm Reality and we’ll be releasing it this fall – well, if you know our history with Dimlite by now, you’ll know that we’ll almost certainly leak a song or two and offer an exclusive pre-sale earlier than that.

At any rate, here’s a little teaser – a video Dimlite calls “humorous + minimalistic” – for a bonus track called “Orchard-wards” from his forthcoming opus.

Yes!

It's uncanny. I was just listening to Prismic Tops today at the gym wondering when a release would come. Great news :yeah:

Available today exclusively from Stones Throw (MP3/CD/3x10" vinyl). Available November 22nd elsewhere.

I was ready to order the CD before I saw the $17.98 price tag (gulp) and then $5.35 shipping for a grand total of $23.33! GASP!!! Jesus christ dudes I'm on the same coast as you are...WTF is wrong with Stones Throw?! Half tempted to purchase the MP3s and buy the CD later when I can find a cheaper one but shit, at these prices I might just pirate the MP3s and buy a used CD for my collection later. Damn.

But dammit I want to hear this NOW.

That's pretty rich alright, saw this in the stones throw newsletter and figured it'd be some $$, they're really pushing now again as some sorta boutique sub-label... guess I'll see what it's going for at the local shop and decide whether to go with the mp3s instead...

Last night I was finally able to make an MP3 purchase at stonesthrow.com (shudder - $9.99) after 4-5 failed attempts. Normally I would opt for the CD (though the vinyl package looks really cool), but the price is kind of nuts.

My morning commute was very pleasant with this on, nearing the end of the album now I'm very pleased! On the first track I got a taste of Flying Lotus and Squarepusher style fusion. I thought, "oh no I hope he didn't lose his own style" but that quickly faded as I got into it. No doubt there are some similarities, but it's not like Dimlite hasn't done stuff like that already himself. I think there was just a tad more jazz influence in the first track that led me to make the comparisons. Very few vocals on this album, which is a surprise considering he had added so many on Prismic Tops (his own and one or two guests). I don't think I would have been disappointed if there were more, but I didn't find myself wanting more either. Seems just right. Musically I found it very smooth, not overly experimental or angular like some of the sounds on the EP from earlier this year, My Human Wears Acedia Shreds. While that wasn't bad, I enjoyed it less than anything else he'd put out up to that point.

I LIKE THIS ALBUM. I think I'll play it again now.

I'm gonna wait for Amazon to release it on CD. I think I'll be saving about £10.

Only problem is I don't wanna wait.

I kind of forgot about dimlite for like 2 years. But I just checked his soundcloud and there are some mindblowingly beautiful productions on there:

Damn, these two are brilliant. I'm really itching to hear more from this man. There was talk of a new album this year, but now I can't find the website that I stumbled onto late in '13.
