nab audio from any internal source

Recommended Posts

normally if i want to sample something I re-route a few wires from my preamp into a mic jack and change the internal sound source etc etc etc, but ... there's gotta be a plugin or a program for this that'll let me do it faster, yeah?

say I'm watching something on youtube. I want the audio.

then I watch something on vlc player. I want that audio too.

I want to sample a snes rom.

then I want to sample a convo with a friend in skype.

anybody know the name of a program (maybe even a free one) that will let me do this? something already music-oriented (a vst) would be the most excellent!

thank you wat them

thanks dudes --

missing sense, that's not quite what i was talkin about, but thanks anyway :sup:

braintree: i'm on a PC, but that program looks nice. I also found WireTap, another mac-only program... that does exactly what I want. bah

FG, I downloaded that - thanks for the link - but.. it's a little convoluted. I'll give it some time and learn what all this does later:

That app is amazing. I came across some audio I made a while back explaining it to someone, and I had music playing off itunes being picked up by my microphone and at the same time explaining it via text to speech.

Also great for making samples of songs since it can be set up to auto convert to mp3.

Irrelevant to this thread cuz OP has windows, but highly recommended to any mac users.

luke viia - Most cards (alas not my fancy-pants Audiofire so I had to make do with using Total Recorder - http://www.totalrecorder.com/ ) have a Stereo Mix or What u Hear or some similarly named thing on the standard Windows Volume Control thing (Options -> Properties -> Recording), have you tried that ? It just routes any sound being processed by your card into an input ...

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

to be honest, i could probably use a new soundcard. mine is, uh, factory. maybe that's the easiest solution though...
