Lucas
Just had the idea of making that topic : what is the city you live in and what do you think about it ? You can also talk about the different cities you lived in and make some comparisons. Here I go : ______________________________________ At the moment I'm doing a training period in Paris, France, and feel a bit mixed about it. Sure a lot of things happen there and people are relatively more exposed to culture than in other French cities. The ethnic mix up is also way more marked. BUT life looks just hard in Paris. The prices of the flats are awful and a lot of people live in ridiculous spaces. The average time spent by a Parisian to go from home to work is 45 minutes by subway. Multiply it by 2 and you got the average time a Parisian lose almost everyday in his life. Subway in the morning or evening is a very strange sight : people just crowd together to get in it, even if there's no space left. Also I'm sick to see all these huge advertisements EVERYWHERE on the walls, in people hands (because a lot of Parisians read the same newspaper which is distributed at the subway entrance). Consumption madness at every corner. Also every time you want to go out or something, you have to plan it more or less because it implies you to take buses or subways, and you have to be sure to go back home before there's no shuttle left. I can hardly imagine to live there, think I would turn depressive or something. I wouldn't have time and space to make music in Paris. It is definitely a nice city to visit, but seriously, you don't want to live in it unless you have a very decent salary. _____________________________________ Think I'll compare it to the other French cities I know but I don't have time right now because I have to spend one hour in the subway to go to work Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide Lucas's signature Hide all signatures antape @ soundcloud Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/66898-what-city-do-you-live-in/ Share on other sites

essines
I live in Victoria BC. It's fucking gorgeous. I love this city but I am kind of getting bored of it. Not a whole lot of good work and high living costs. But it wails pretty good. Plus it's a 3 or so hour trip over to Vancouver. skotosa
Houston Texas pretty dull as fuck. One day it'll be freezing cold the next scorching hot, no consistency. Summers tend to be pretty hot and humid and we get some really great weather in January. I love rain and when it does rain in the summer over here it can be pretty epic. Huge loud bright pretty thunder bolts... Its flat here... Pretty big population. Lots of Mexicans, African Americans, and Asians. Mexicans can be seen cutting yards... African Americans at our fast food joints and Asians everywhere and anywhere. You want beach we got Galveston and that shit is a cesspool. Radio Play crap. Lots of Bad random Rap. Your cool if you listen to Kanye or Lady Gaga. Lots of food in Texas Size portions. We could probably feed an army of homeless people with all the food we waste just here in Houston. I work at a restaurant so I know what I'm talking about. Its ok I guess and shit isn't too expensive over here. essines
I have only lived in Victoria for about 3 years, otherwise i've been in town with less than 20,000 people. QBLA
Currently: Murrieta, CA since December 2010. 90 miles south east of Los Angeles and about 60 miles north of San Diego. I don't mind it here at all. I can see how people ages 17 - 30 can get bored here. But I've moved past being bored according to location. It's really nice looking here. surrounded by hills... that's it! Recently: Northridge, CA from August 2009 - December 2010. Hated it. Prior: Davenport, FL from August 2007 - August 2009. If it weren't for the weather and my wife getting a transfer back to Cali, we would still be here. Financially, this place was the best place for us because the cost of living was so low and I was making the best I've ever been paid. It took me a while to get over Davenport when i moved back to Cali. Now this place was very small. Beautiful fields, trees, lakes, swamps and just random wildlife occasionally makin' rounds. Big ass spiders and other trippy ass grass hoppers with racing stripes. I miss Davenport, but I'm over the depression of leaving. Prior: South Pasadena, CA from May 2003 - August 2007. This is probably my most favorite place I've lived. And my wife loved it there too. Most of our time spent in this town was spent practically without kids so we did lots of stuff in old town, Went to shows quite a bit. South Pasadena is one of the prettiest places when it rains. It was a hub for me as well meeting other muscians throughout South Pasadena and Los Angeles that I'm still in contact with. Prior: Riverside, CA from July 1994 - May 2003. This town I had mixed feelings for when I lived there. I at first resented the fact that I had to drive all the way to Los Angeles to do something worth while (I've always hated driving long distances). But Riverside became ok when you know the right people. and OK turned into cool hangouts with friends. Riverside has always had potential. There are people there that are trying to make it so, but people would rather drive to Los Angeles to hang out than to hang out in Riverside. So when something starts out there like parties and such, most don't last. Prior: Norfolk, VA from September 1990 - July 1994. I was stationed there, so it doesn't really count I guess. Hated it for the most part. but it was cool at times. Prior: December 1971 - September 1990. Lived with my parents. Guest Sprigg
Kansas City, Missouri. Not too bad a city, I guess. We get quite a few good rock gigs (though there is literally no non-EDM electronic scene here and raves are full of 17 year old emo twats who just wanna get fucked up on every substance available). I actually live in a suburb outside the city, so I have to drive everywhere. No walking or biking. Rent isn't too bad I guess, but in order to live on one's own without a roommate, working the shitty jobs that are around here, a person would probably need two (I had to move back in with my parents last year due to financial shit going south). People are friendly enough. Too many backwards gun-toting hicks though outside the downtown area On 6/17/2011 at 7:17 PM, Mr Ouija said: Astoria, New York.
