Arkham City

I'm crazily excited about Arkham City. It's really the only game I've been looking forward to for the last couple of years. LA Noire was a good stop-gap, but it failed to amaze me (and have any replay value) in the end.

Arkham City so far has Batman in a larger world than Arkham Asylum facing up against The Joker, Two Face, The Penguin and The Riddler. There's allusions, but no confirmations that Black Mask will also feature as well as roles for Hugo Strange and some lesser characters like Calendar Man, Mr Freeze and Talia al Ghul.

I wasn't thrilled that Catwoman is a playable character, although it reads as though she has about 15% of total gameplay. She looks a little too overly sexualised for my liking.

But today it's been confirmed that Robin is playable in arena matches and he looks much better in my opinion.

Out of E3 it seems as though 'detective vision' has been toned down. A lot of people apparently used it throughout Arkham Asylum, although I made concerted efforts to only use it when necessary.

Travelling across the bigger map has been sped up with some better gliding techniques and I can't wait to spend hours just flying around as fast as possible, diving down alleyways and perching on gargoyles.

It seems as though there's a lot going on, although AA did a really good job of pacing all the enemies and the story-line and attention to detail was stunning.

AA is easily the best game I'd played in about 5 years, and it already seems as though Arkham City is going to top my all-time list.

October can't come soon enough. Discuss?

Arkham Asylum was fantastic. I hope they fix the cheap boss battles and make the world and movement feel a bit less constrained.

AA was superbly fantastic. Everything about it was done well. Best superhero game to date IMO. I'm absolutely stoked for AC, and like you said, October can't come soon enough.

haven't played AA yet. Will pick it up sometime.

I really wanna play this... Arkham Asylum was a great game, and this seems to have taken all the good things, made them better and put it to a bigger more open scale.

AA was fantastic, but the final battle i thought was abit too easy. I also like the play again factor of looking for the rest of riddlers clues, this and uncharted 3 are on my list for the year

I've never really been interested in any games that are somehow to do with superheros or cartoons. Maybe I'm just to weary of them thinking they will all be crap. I'll keep an eye out for gameplay videos for this though and may make a purchase.

It might be interesting if when you play the game on July 4th or Halloween or Christmas Day he has a different mission.

I'd reckon he'll be a bit-part early boss like Zsasz from AA though.

So that's Talia and Solomon Grundy to add to Penguin, Joker, Two Face, Bane, Riddler, Hugo Strange, Black Mask (still rumoured), Calendar Man (lol)... Uh, Robin and Catwoman. I'm probably missing something... Uh, Mr Freeze and Poison Ivy are both very likely as villains are reported to affect the environment of their patches. Scarecrow and Killer Croc must be involved too considering the alternate endings on Arkham Asylum.

And Kevin Conroy (voice of Batman) has said that there's going to be episodic content. I don't think I'll ever play another game again.

I'm genuinely in love with that Year One skin. I don't care which pre-order it comes with I'm probably going to blow a shitload of money buying everything up anyway.

I'm even considering the Special Edition box-set because I've been thinking about buying a Batman statuette for a while, so I might as well just combine it.

goddam seeing those trailers makes me realize that all the Batman filmmakers since Burton who have handled the batman costume are pussies. Why just recycle the all black Burton design when clearly the blue/grey combo can be done right
