rstark
I've been making music seriously for about 2 years or so now and switched from FL studio to Ableton Live in the spring.. I've gotten pretty good at making loops and such that sound nice but I have a hard time learning exactly how to sequence and program and make everything sound progressive and nice rather than a single bar or 3 that I have to listen to 150 times. Does anyone know any nice resources to learn past the beginner stages on Ableton that are free? I've been watching some youtube tutorials but those fools can only go so far.. Guest Adam
How is this different then in Fl studio? That's not a matter of DAW. For me and lots of others that's the hardest part of making a track. Expanding it from a loop to a track. Wrong forum btw. luke viia
do you know any music theory? chord progressions? if not, check it out. there are plenty of free resources. if you do know that kind of thing, then utilize your knowledge; maybe begin by emulating some noticeable tricks that grab your attention from some of your favorite artists - and certainly don't expect it to turn out the same way it did when your idols did it. practice! Guest Sprigg
I've been doing covers/ remixes of video game soundtracks lately (mostly Metroid and Donkey Kong), and even when they've come out to be utter shit,it's really helping me out in terms of song structure and even patch programming. Guest Promo
A good idea might be to get out a note pad and just write down a bunch of crazy ideas and possibilities you could explore in general or for a specific track. EDIT: Just wanna say that Ableton has some very nice Midi plugins such Appegiator and one finger Chords.
