Where does everyone hang out these days?

I can't say I've been here on WATMM terribly long, but I do remember a time when the EKT forum was a lot more active... these days it's seeming pretty dead to me. I was just curious which corners of the net you producer types are hanging out in these days? I myself browse idmforums, dogsonacid, and a little bit of KVR but I can't say I'm active on any of them really. I can't be bothered to establish a place in the community all over again, although if EKT keeps heading the direction it's been I may have too...

Usually when I want specific technical information I just Google it because chances are someone somewhere has already brought it up. EKT seems to work for "how do you prefer to do X" topics. And as far as self promotion/individual feedback goes, online producer forums tend to be a black hole from which no light escapes.

i dunno about you guys, but i actually draw a lot of inspiration from both just randomly browsing youtube videos as well as forums where people just randomly talk about stuff related to production. i don't really need to know any specific thing, it's just cool to be a part of the small talk ya know?

did you check google+?

I'm on Facebook far too much. :whistling:

Bust mostly because watmm is kinda dead these days and because I've been too busy/stressed out/preoccupied to produce tracks lately.

I used to spend a lot of time on DOA's The Grid, but that's all just assholes after wobble these days... I think the days of the internet forum are just kinda dying due to massive social media tardsites.

:X

That said, my interest in WATMM has become reinvigorated lately, I just stray beyond EKT now.

Mostly real life. . if you can find people who are interested in what you're doing it's much more likely to lead to something interesting. I meet people and give them CDs or a flash drive or email them tracks or whatever. That's not to say I'm enjoying commercial success, or anything. It's just more interesting for me to do it this way.

see that's the problem, can't seem to network with enough cool people around here that are into similar stuff. i studied at a music production school here in vancouver and of all the students and teachers i only found one guy interested in building in reaktor and stuff like that. most of the people were just interested in micing up a drum kit and rocking out.
