The reason nuts are hard to open is not, as you would think, because the plant is trying to protect the nuts from being eaten.

The plant wants you to eat them. The shell is there to make you look really dominant in front of others when you're opening it, like HOLY FUCK I'M HARD AS NAILS I CAN BUST OPEN THIS FUCKING NUT, MATE WITH ME BITCH.
